These terms apply when you use Zilroo to pay for jobs or receive payouts on the platform. They work together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
These Payment Terms ("Payment Terms") apply when you pay for services or receive payouts through Zilroo's in-app payment features. They supplement our Terms of Use. By paying or receiving payment on Zilroo, you agree to these Payment Terms.
Zilroo may use third-party payment processors (such as Stripe) to collect, hold, and disburse funds. Zilroo is not a bank, money transmitter, or escrow agent. We act as a limited payment collection agent for professionals when you pay through the platform.
When in-app payments are enabled for a job, customers must pay the agreed amount through Zilroo unless we explicitly allow an exception in writing. Paying outside the platform for jobs initiated on Zilroo may violate our Terms and can result in account restrictions.
Zilroo charges professionals a per-job service fee (currently 15% of the agreed job amount) deducted from payout. Customers pay a separate payment processing fee at checkout (currently about 2.9% card processing plus about 1% currency conversion buffer plus a small fixed card-network fee component, grossed up and rounded to whole JMD) — this fee is not deducted from the professional's payout. There is no monthly subscription for professionals. All amounts are disclosed before you confirm payment or accept a funded offer. Unless required by law or stated otherwise, platform service fees are non-refundable once a payment has been processed. The payment processing fee shown at checkout is non-refundable when a funded hire offer is withdrawn, declined, or expires before the professional accepts — only the job amount is returned in those cases.
When you pay through Zilroo, funds are collected when you send a funded hire offer and held in escrow until the job is complete and any release window has passed. You should review completion requests promptly: if you do not mark the job complete or open a dispute within the windows below, escrow may be released to the professional. After release, Zilroo automatically transfers the professional's share to their Stripe Connect Express account and initiates a bank payout from that account once Stripe marks the funds available. Customer payments are collected through Stripe. Depending on Stripe settlement and treasury timing, funds typically reach the professional's linked bank within several business days after escrow is released (often about one week for new Connect accounts).
These windows start when the relevant action occurs (for example, when you mark complete or when the professional sends a completion request in chat). Exact timing may vary slightly for processing and compliance checks.
Professionals must complete Stripe Connect onboarding in Settings → Billing → Payout details before accepting a funded hire offer. Stripe collects customer payments and hosts Express onboarding where you link the Jamaican bank account that should receive payouts. After escrow is released, Zilroo transfers your net earnings to your Connect Express balance and schedules a payout to that bank account.
Zilroo may delay or withhold payouts when we suspect fraud, a dispute is open, or we are required to do so by law or by our payment partners.
Refunds for job payments depend on job status, what was delivered, and any dispute outcome. Customers and professionals should try to resolve issues through Zilroo messaging and support first.
Before a professional accepts your offer: if you withdraw the offer, the professional declines, or the offer expires, we refund the job amount to your original payment method. The payment processing fee at checkout is not refunded in those cases.
After a job is funded in escrow: if a refund is approved (for example through an in-app dispute), we refund the job amount unless required otherwise by law. The payment processing fee is generally not refunded. Our payment partner charges processing and currency conversion fees that they do not return to us when a refund is issued.
Refund processing times are set by banks and card networks and may take several business days.
Customers and professionals may open an in-app dispute while payment is in escrow. Opening a dispute pauses payout release while our team reviews the case. Outcomes may include a refund of the job amount to the customer or release of funds for professional payout. Dispute decisions are made by Zilroo staff based on platform records (messages, hire details, and job status). Payment processing fees are not refunded on dispute refunds unless required by law.
If you dispute a charge with your bank or card issuer (a "chargeback"), we may share relevant platform records (messages, hire details, timestamps) with the payment processor to respond to the dispute.
Professionals are responsible for delivering services as quoted. Repeated chargebacks or payment abuse may lead to suspension.
Users must not use Zilroo to find customers or jobs and then complete payment off-platform to avoid fees, taxes, or platform protections. This includes sharing payment details in messages to bypass checkout.
Violations may result in warnings, loss of Verified Pro status, or account suspension. See also our Trust & Safety guidance on keeping communication on Zilroo.
Professionals are responsible for their own tax obligations. Zilroo does not provide tax advice. We may provide transaction records to help professionals meet reporting requirements where the product supports it.
We may update these Payment Terms when we change fees, payment flows, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email. Continued use of in-app payments after notice constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
