Terms of Use

Welcome to Zilroo. By using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Nondiscrimination Policy. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use Zilroo.

1. Description of service and Zilroo's role

Zilroo is a marketplace that connects customers with skilled professionals (for example, plumbers, electricians, and landscapers) for home and business services in Jamaica. Zilroo does not perform those services — all work is carried out by independent professionals you choose.

We provide online tools to help customers post service requests, browse and invite professionals, receive and compare quotes, message on the platform, record hires, and (after a hire) share job location details needed to perform the work. Professionals can create profiles, respond to requests, send quotes, and coordinate with customers through the same tools. We may also display reviews, verification status, and other trust signals to help users make informed decisions.

Those tools connect you with independent professionals; they do not constitute a warranty, guarantee, or endorsement of any professional or of the work they perform. Using messaging, quotes, hire records, or other platform features does not mean Zilroo vouches for a particular pro or outcome.

Zilroo is not your employer, agent, or insurer. Professionals on the platform are independent service providers. They are not employees, agents, partners, joint venturers, or representatives of Zilroo. When you hire a professional, your service agreement is directly between you and that professional. Zilroo is not a party to that agreement.

We may review accounts, messages, or listings for trust and safety, but we do not supervise work on site, guarantee outcomes, or control how professionals perform their services. A "Verified Pro" badge means the professional completed our profile checks — it is not a guarantee of work quality or safety.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Zilroo. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We are not liable for losses from unauthorized access to your account.

Professionals must provide accurate information about their skills, service areas, and availability. Misrepresentation may result in account suspension.

4. Customer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete information when requesting services
  • Respond to quotes and messages in a timely manner
  • Keep job-related communication on Zilroo — especially before and during an active request or hire — so there is a clear record if support or safety review is needed
  • Pay professionals as agreed for completed work
  • Leave honest reviews after job completion (see Reviews below)
  • Treat professionals with respect and in accordance with applicable law and our Nondiscrimination Policy

5. Professional responsibilities

  • Provide accurate quotes and deliver work as described
  • Communicate professionally and respond in a timely manner
  • Comply with all applicable laws, licenses, permits, and insurance requirements for your trade
  • Keep customer information confidential and use it only for the job
  • Not pressure customers to move job coordination off Zilroo before or during an active request or hire
  • Decline jobs only for legitimate business reasons (skills, location, availability, safety), not based on protected characteristics — see our Nondiscrimination Policy

6. Assumption of risk

Home and business services involve real-world risks, including property damage, personal injury, and payment disputes. You interact with other users at your own risk.

Customers and professionals are responsible for evaluating each other, agreeing on scope and price, and taking reasonable precautions on site. Zilroo does not inspect job sites or guarantee that any professional is licensed, insured, or suitable for a particular job.

7. Payments and fees

Zilroo offers in-app payment processing for eligible jobs. When you pay through the platform, our Payment Terms apply in addition to these Terms.

Platform fees and payout rules are disclosed at checkout, in hire offer breakdowns, or on our Pricing page. There is no monthly subscription for professionals.

8. Reviews

Reviews help the community make informed decisions. By leaving a review, you agree that it will:

  • Reflect your genuine experience on the specific job
  • Be accurate and not misleading
  • Not contain discriminatory, threatening, defamatory, or hateful content
  • Not be used to retaliate or manipulate ratings

We may remove or hide reviews that violate these rules or our Nondiscrimination Policy. Each completed job should receive at most one review from each party entitled to review it.

9. Disputes and reporting

Disputes about work quality, scope, or payment are primarily between the customer and professional. We may provide support using platform records (messages, quotes, hire status) but are not responsible for the outcome of the underlying job.

Report safety concerns, fraud, harassment, or discrimination through our Contact page or email support@zilroo.com. For urgent in-progress safety issues, put "URGENT" in the subject line. See Trust & Safety for more guidance.

10. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation, including antidiscrimination laws
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Use the platform for illegal or unauthorized purposes
  • Move job coordination off-platform to evade safety tools or platform rules
  • Pay or accept payment off-platform for jobs initiated on Zilroo to avoid fees — see Payment Terms
  • Manipulate reviews, ratings, or search visibility
  • Scrape, copy, or misuse platform content or data
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the platform

11. Intellectual property

Zilroo and its branding, design, and content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not use our trademarks, logos, or content without prior written permission. You retain ownership of content you submit but grant us a license to use it to operate the platform.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zilroo is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform, any in-person services, or any transactions with professionals.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zilroo, its affiliates, and their officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason. You may close your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (for example, indemnification and limitation of liability) will survive.

15. Changes to terms

We may modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the platform. Your continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance of the new terms where permitted by law. If you do not agree, you must stop using the platform.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jamaica.

17. General

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Zilroo regarding use of the platform. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.
